Rosie Lorene Ruben, daughter of Jessie F and Anna Pauline (Watkins) Mordecai, was born on September 19, 1923 in Depew, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at 95 years of age.

After graduating High School in 1941, Rosie (the Riveter), went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Tulsa, and it was there that she met and married James Howard Wheeler, who was also from Stilwell. James, by the way, was captured by the Germans and placed in a POW Camp, where after 120 days, he escaped and was found by the French Underground, who returned him to his unit.

James and Rosie raised their family between Oklahoma and Southern California. Rosie worked for Hughes Market in Southern California as a cashier and retired after 30 years.

After 28 years of marriage, her husband died. At the age of 68 years, she enrolled in Rhema Bible College, Tulsa, OK and graduated at 70. Rosie returned to Stilwell to care for her aging mother. At 73, she met Carol Ruben at the PHC in Stilwell, where they were married. This union lasted until Carol’s death.

Rosie hosted Bible studies in her home until 2017 and before her death, Rosie said, “I’ve had a full life and everything is ok with the Father. I’m ready to go.”

She was preceded in death by her parents: Jessie Anna Mordecai, husbands: James Wheeler and Carol Ruben, sister: Velma Carlton, brother: Vernon Mordecai and daughter: Joyce K. Wheeler.

A devoted and loving family survives her. They include her daughter: Janet Davis and husband Chuck of Modoc, SC, brother: Jimmy Wheeler of Reno, NV, sister: Vera Johnson of Sapulpa, OK, grandson: Chris Davis and wife Angela of Dawsonville, GA, granddaughter: Saundra Burrell and husband Dawson of Murrayville, GA, grandsons: John and Shawn Hess of California, Aaron Wheeler of Dallas, TX, Michael Wheeler of Tulsa, OK, granddaughters: Kimberly Aarmas and husband Maurice of Orange, CA and Amber Wheeler of Tulsa and great grandchildren.
