Sonya Kay Cochran daughter of Sundown and Joanna (Mink) Watie was born September 6, 1973 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and went to be with our Lord eternally on January 18, 2019 surrounded by loved ones.

Sonya had an unwavering love for the Lord. She was a member at Cherry Tree Baptist Church where she loved serving in many capacities including treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed acting in church play and CBA skits. Sonya spent countless hours serving in the community. She was an ambassador to Washington for the Kidney Foundation for 2 years representing Oklahoma.

Sonya graduated from Stilwell High School in 1991 and went on to receive a master’s in social work degree and worked for the United Keetoowah Band. Every chance Sonya got she was watching her nieces and nephews in any of their sporting events. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

She was preceded in death by grandparents; Emma Mink, Ada Watie and Dave Watie, uncles; Bryan Mink, Delmar Watie, Hubert Mink and Tommy Mink.

Sonya leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory that include her husband; Martin Cochran of the home, parents; Sundown and Joanna Watie, siblings; Sundown Watie Jr. and wife Mandy, Sky Dayva Watie, Shayna Jo Watie all of Stilwell, OK, niece and nephews; Shade Watie, Snowda Watie, Shaystin Duncan and Sy Watie all of Stilwell, OK.
