Beverly Sue Patterson, daughter of Doyal and Maxine (Bennett) Osborn, was born May 12, 1947, in Pauls Valley, OK, and departed this life surrounded by loved ones on January 20, 2019, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Beverly’s parents moved to Stilwell in 1948 to make their home where they were blessed to raise two children; Beverly and John Doyal (JD). Beverly accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized in the Stilwell First Baptist Church. She had a special love for youth and spent years serving as a both a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. One of her greatest joys was being a church organist for 37 years.
Beverly married Bill Patterson on December 2, 1966, and to this union three daughters were born; Susan Hope, Julie Faith and Elizabeth Charity. Her children were blessed by how she taught them to love the Lord, never give up, tell people about Jesus, forgive, work hard, pray and have faith, journal and be thankful for answered prayer, always speak highly of their husbands, make their home a haven, teach their children the Word of God, practice what they preach, don’t let the world in their home to destroy it, count their blessings, keep a good name, be in church, respect everyone, smile and greet people, be an influence for the Lord, and use their talents for God.
Beverly received her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1968 and Masters in English in 1980 both from Northeastern State University. She was employed at Stilwell Public Schools as the high school speech and English teacher where her speech students excelled at speech competitions. She truly had a great love for helping teenagers succeed both in and out of the classroom, and it did not go unnoticed by her peers as she was chosen Stilwell Teacher of the Year three times and went on to be named Adair County Teacher of the Year.
She enjoyed everything family whether it was a vacation, sports event, etc. She would look for reasons to cook up a big meal and have everyone over.
Beverly was reunited with those who preceded her in death that she loved so dearly including her parents; Maxine Bennett Osborn Schroeder and Doyal Osborn, stepfather; Bill Schroeder, brother; John Doyal Osborn and sons in law; Danny Isaacs and Tony Bradley.
She is survived by a very loving husband of over 52 years; Bill of the home, Susan Hope Bradley of OKC, Julie Faith Stewart and husband Tim of Siloam Springs, AR, and Elizabeth Charity Isaacs of Stilwell, Grandchildren; Rachael Megli of Tahlequah, Aaron Patterson and wife Melinda of OKC, Haley, Jordan and Josh Stewart of Siloam Springs, AR, Lauren, Ashley, Luke, and Ryan Isaacs of Stilwell, several other relatives, church family and many friends also survive her.
Mrs. Patterson touched my life in many ways. She was my speech class teacher, play director, and my Sunday School teacher. She made an impact on all those whose lives she touched! I will remember her and her sweet kind spirit! I will continue to pray for your whole family.

She was my favorite teacher! I loved her! Mrs. Patterson made me memorize a poem called, “Don’t Quit.” I can still hear her say, “Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!” So many times in my life with all of its ups and downs I would go back to that poem and keep going. She made me feel like I could do anything and conquer the world. She was one of the main reasons I became a teacher. I wanted to make an impact on someone’s life the way she impacted my life. She was amazing!!!! My condolences to the family, I’m so sorry I missed the services. But I want to remember her the way I have her in my mind.

I loved having Mrs. Patterson as a teacher. She was always happy, always smiling, and always working. She stood by her door everyday welcoming each one of us to class with the warmest smile and hug. She is one I model myself after hoping to be a teacher like her. She was truly a Godly presence that brightened my life. She was a blessing.

So sorry for your loss. We went from the first grade thru graduation. She was one of a kind. I was there for their wedding, after it was over they were leaving . We put their Volkswagen up on blocks it wouldn't move. Your dad thought it was funny, your mom didnt like it. She was ready to start a new life. The picture of them with the wheelbarrow going up main street, ha ha that was my wheelbarrow . She will be missed

Bev was my 1st cousin. We were so close for years then we got married had children. You loose some years in between! But then when we did see each other it was as if time stood still at that moment! I loved her so much. She was a wonderful lady, beautiful inside and out! She made me feel good just being in her presence! Every time we did get together we would be silly and laugh and laugh! You would think we were 12 years old again! I am so sad of her passing but glad she is no longer in pain! I wanted more than anything to go to her celebration of life and funeral, but I’m getting old too, and the weather has prevented me from going! However, she will always be in my heart and in my memories just as she will be in the arms of Jesus! I will pray for Bill and all her girls and their familys! Love them all!

I was fortunate to have Mrs. Patterson as my junior year English teacher. I will never forget the way she would greet me each day by saying "Hello, Mary Lou, goodbye heart!" after the old Ricky Nelson song. Even now 22 years later, I still think back to how she would always say that a positive attitude can turn a situation around for the better. I have thought back to that lesson many times in my life during times of struggle. I look forward to seeing her again. Love and prayers to her precious family.

Beverly was a wonderful example of a Godly woman. I had the privilege of getting to know her when I taught at Stilwell. She made those years more enjoyable because she always had a bright friendly smile and a kind word for everyone. Her words and actions showed how much she lived life, her family and how much she cared for others.
She will be missed by so many.
Love and prayers for all the family.
